Coca-Cola Waves an American Flag, but America Wants to Stop the Wind

Thought provoking post! Have Americans forgot we are known for being the melting pot of the world. I love this ad by Coca-cola and hope others will follow suit and embrace the diversity our country is built upon. Diversity is a beautiful thing.

Coca-Cola featured a controversial ad during Super Bowl XLVII commercials showcasing America’s multiracial identity in correspondence with the world’s most popular soda brand.

The title, “America the Beautiful,” implies that the commercial is going to be ‘Bout Good Ole ‘Merica; but as soon as the vocalist switches from singing the song in English, to signing in Spanish, then to Portuguese, to French, Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog, and so on, back to English, the message of the ad changes.

This particular ad gave off the impression that diversity should be celebrated because America is now mainly composed of multiple ethnicity and languages. Praised by much of the populous, this ad was well received, but for others, the thought of drinking another coke brought a strange taste to their mouths.

Coca-Cola was quick to infer how many of their viewers were dissatisfied at the content of the ad. Many conservatives responded negatively. They…
